Servers remember the big tippers and treat them very well when they come back to the restaurant. They also remember the bad or no tippers.

This is especially true in bars and night clubs.

Take care of your servers and they will take care of you.

Believe it or not, in some countries it is not the custom to tip, and servers are paid an adequate wage. As far as how fast you should get the check, and how fast you should vacate the table, in Europe it is often the case that you don't get the check until you ask for it; otherwise would be considered rude, like rushing you out the door. It shouldn't be the responsibility of the customer to aid in table turnover, or to worry about the server missing out on subsequent tips. I might take notice of people waiting for a table, and leave out of courtesy for them.

I see all over the internet how much a server should be tipped. I have not seen what TIPS stand for; "To Insure Prompt Service". I am a 20% or more tipper. But I resent the idea that I am required to tip in order to supplement an employers low wages. I also resent a server asking me if I need change: bill is $22.36 and I give her $40.00. That to me is asking "Can I keep the change". If I wanted her to keep the change, I would have told her so. Most servers believe that the public has to tip them. I also thought that a Manager tells employees what to do. Employees do not tell managers who they will and will not serve. Article says she is a poor tipper! Does that mean less than 18%. Monica Covington nor the restuarant managent hasn't said how much she tipped!! I think there is more to the story. More will be revealed, I hope
