Introducing the Tax Free Tips Act
Ron Paul Speech to Congress
September 25, 2007
Madam Speaker, I rise to help millions of working Americans by introducing the Tax Free Tips Act. As the title suggests, this legislation makes tips exempt from federal income and payroll taxes. Tips often compose a substantial portion of the earnings of waiters, waitresses, and other service-sector employees. However, unlike regular wages, a service-sector employee usually has no guarantee of, or legal right to, a tip. Instead, the amount of a tip usually depends on how well an employee satisfies a client. Since the amount of taxes one pays increases along with the size of tip, taxing tips punishes workers for doing a superior job!
Many service-sector employees are young people trying to make money to pay for their education, or single parents struggling to provide for their children. Oftentimes, these workers work two jobs in hopes of making a better life for themselves and their families. The Tax Free Tips Act gives these hard-working Americans an immediate pay raise. People may use this pay raise to devote more resources to their children’s, or their own, education, or to save for a home, retirement, or to start their own businesses.
Helping Americans improve themselves by reducing their taxes will make our country stronger. I, therefore, hope all my colleagues will join me in cosponsoring the Tax Free Tips Act.

The suggested message is: “If this bill has not become law by the 2008 primary date, I will NOT support you in your re-election campaign.” Then, go to www.RonPaul.MeetUp.com and join your local Ron Paul Meet Up Group. As a server/bartender for 6 years I support Ron Paul and his introduction of the Tax Free Tips Act. The minimum wage in most states is still $2.13 per hour. Which in most cases is already sucked up by the government leaving us only to rely on the tips we may or may not make. If everyone was educated on how to tip it wouldn’t cause a problem. Though since some people are stuck in the past or just flat out cheap they do not know how to reward good service. Trust me I’ve had my fair share of bad service but it never stops me from leaving atleast 15%. Simply because I know that if I leave nothing on lets say a $20 dollar tab, the server/bartender will be tax on the $4 dollars they should have made. Leaving them with paying for me to eat. Unfair entirely. So in saying this I will continue to support Ron Paul and the Tax Free Tips Act.

Ron Paul to be Excluded from Next Fox News Forum
According to the Associated Press Fox News will be featuring a forum on January 6 which will include Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, John McCain, Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson. In an effort to be fair and balanced, the candidate who raised more money in a single day than any politician in American history will not be included.
The 90-minute forum will air live beginning at 8 p.m. ET on the Fox News Channel and on Fox News Radio.
UPDATE: The forum is being sponsored by the New Hampshire Republican Party.
I’m told that many outraged Paul supports are emailing
Fergus Cullen, who is the state party chairman.
Let us voice our objections to this by emailing Fox News and Fergus Cullen, the NH Republican State Chairman.
